I’m Back – and the fun’s about to start!

Grace_book coverHello to all my wonderful readers! I’ve been away from the blogging scene too long. So, I thought, what the heck, let’s come back and see what’s happening. As a writer I find it hard to keep my focus on one thing and one thing only. I know, it seems silly to say that. Never having been diagnosed with ADD, I wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case.

In my time away from blogging, I’ve been quite busy working on my new book GRACE: What’s so Amazing About It? I thought, it’d be fun to give you a sneak peak at the cover – yes, this is the final cover; which I’m excited about.

Christians have asked, “What’s so important about grace?” or “Isn’t grace simply something one receives at salvation?” While these may be valid questions, but the truth of the matter is, grace is so much deeper and so much more brilliant than we imagine.

Think of a diamond. When you look down at the table of the diamond (that’s the top) it shines, sparkles and the fire of the stone shimmers in the light it’s refracting. Why does a diamond sparkle like that? It shines because of the facets carved within the stone. Most diamonds have 80 cuts creating the facets. Basically the carving of facets turn the stone into a prism.

I remember the first time I saw a prism. I was in 7th grade and my science teacher, Mr. Dan Smith, shined a flashlight onto his driveway. The rainbow colors were beautiful! I’ll never forget that moment. When we look at God’s amazing grace, we see there is more to  it than salvation. While salvation is important, it should not be the main focal point of grace.

Grace has many facets:

Saving Grace; “For by Grace you have been saved through faith…” Eph 2:8, Daily Grace; “building yourselves up on your most holy faith…” Jude 20, Grace in Hardships; “…count it all joy when you fall into various trials…” James 1:2, Praising Grace; “Rejoice always…” 1 Thes. 5:16, and Forgiving Grace; Forgiveness is our decision to accept God’s grace…” Pope John Paul II

We shouldn’t settle for a cheap understanding of grace but a grace that is ever as beautiful and powerful as God’s love for us. Our changed lives should, in-fact, be that beacon of glory for the world to see.

This is the reason I wrote my new 30-day devotional on grace. I want to take you on a 30 day, 5-week journey showing that grace is more like a deep faceted diamond. Do you see its BRILLIANCE?

Blessings,
