2 Years of No Life!

Thinking back to simpler days, where I only had myself to worry about, sounds like a good idea. Hear me out. Wouldn’t it be nice to find that life is all about you: your time, your dollar, your likes, your dislikes and you can even leave dirty underwear laying around without anyone to ask you to pick them up? Sounds like a good life, doesn’t it?

But, what if you realize that there is more to life. What if you find that one person who turns your whole outlook on life upside down and inside out. You can’t breathe, you can’t eat you can’t even sleep without thinking about her. She becomes your whole world, your everything.

The amazing thing is, there is strength when it comes to having a wife. Some men think of their wives being a burden on them, keeping them from fully expressing their own individuality. Let’s face it guys, because I’m about to get real, IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU! Wives, let me speak to you as well… IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU!

Three and a half years ago I met and began dating my wife. (you can read about our story HERE!) I realized, and it didn’t take long before, I fell in-love with her. She took over my whole world. She consumed me. When I finally realized I wanted to marry her, I was a mess.

Face it, life as we know it ended the day we said I DO!. THAT’S A GOOD THING! Are you still with me? When we said I Do to our spouse, we decided it was time to give up living life how we wanted, we decided to stop being an individual and became a couple–a family! Our whole lives should be about being completely devoted to our spouse. We give up the things we desire, so they can have their best life ever.

Many people believe that marriage is about being happy. I’m going to be brutally honest, marriage isn’t about happiness, it’s about pouring our lives into our spouse so that they are not in wanting. I wake up each day asking myself one simple question… What can I do to honor my wife today? Marriage is about compromise. We give up what we desire so that our spouse feels loved and respected.

As my wife and I celebrate our 2  year anniversary I can honestly say to my Love – I’m so grateful for my 2 years of not having a life! I can say that because my whole world is about serving and honoring my wife.

I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

  1. great blog Jason! When people think someone else is responsible for their happiness they will never truly be happy. Happy anniversary! What an adventure you both are on.
